Honor 90: Snapdragon 7 Gen 1-powered midranger with 200MP camera, starting at RM1,799

With Honor having already launched their flagship Honor Magic 5 Pro and the Magic Vs foldable in Malaysia back in April, it only made sense then for the Chinese brand to now follow it up with their new midrange smartphone, the Honor 90.

Honor 90 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Honor 90 will be available for purchase starting on 22 July 2023 from their official store on Shopee and Lazada as well as their retail partners nationwide. Here’s how much it’ll cost:

  • Honor 90, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,799
  • Honor 90, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM2,099

Honor is also bundling free gifts worth up to RM647 which include a pair of Honor Earbuds X5, an extra year of warranty and a 180-day screen crack warranty while stocks last. On top of that, for only one day on 22 July 2023, everyone who purchases the Honor 90 at selected stores will be able to get an additional RM150 eWallet credit, with West Malaysia getting Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit and East Malaysia getting Boost eWallet credit.

Honor 90 specs

Right off the bat, the Honor 90 is certainly an eye-catching device, available in Emerald Green, Peacock Blue and Diamond Silver which has a textured back on it. Turn it around and you’ll find a large 6.7-inch, quad curved AMOLED ‘Floating’ display that pushes a 2664 x 1200p resolution. Honor was also quick to mention its 3840Hz PWM dimming capabilities, which should make the display easier on the eyes. This is on top of a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1600nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

Under the hood, the Honor 90 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition, which is basically last year’s upper midrange mobile processor clocked slightly higher. This gets mated to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, with the Honor 90 coming with Android 13 out of the box skinned with MagicOS 7.1.

The Honor 90 is also one of the few midrange smartphones that is now using a 200MP shooter, with the new device packing a 200MP, f/1.9 main camera on the back with a 1/1.4-inch sensor housed in dual ring camera modules that were apparently inspired by jewelry. This gets flanked by a 12MP, f/2.2 ultrawide and macro shooter while the third camera is a 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. Up front meanwhile is a 50MP, f/2.4 camera for your selfie needs.

Other features of note include a 5,000mAh battery with 66W Honor SuperCharge fast charging that they claim will charge it from zero to 20% in just 5 minutes. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor and support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G and NFC wireless connectivity. The whole device weighs just 183g and measures 7.8mm thick.
