The Election Commission (EC) has announced the nomination and polling dates for six state elections that will be held for Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. If you’re eligible to vote during the coming state elections, here’s everything you need to know including dates and how to check for your polling location.

As announced by the EC, the nomination date for candidates is on Saturday, 29th of July 2023. Early voting falls on Tuesday, 8th August and the actual polling day is scheduled for Saturday, 12th August 2023.

Since last year, all eligible Malaysians who are eligible to vote have been automatically added to the electoral roll. This means if you are aged 18 years old and above, but have never voted before, you are eligible to cast your votes in your respective state elections.

How to check your polling location for state elections?

To check for voter status including the location of the polling station, you can use the MySPR Semak Portal and go to “Semakan Daftar Pemilih”. Just enter your IC number (without dash) and the CAPTCHA to proceed. Your assigned constituency for the state elections will be indicated under DUN (Dewan Undangan Negeri).

Similar to the last General Elections, the MySPR Semak website is expected to provide the actual location as well as the suggested time to cast your votes closer to the polling date. The portal will also be updated with the list of candidates ahead of the state elections.

Alternatively, you can also check by downloading the official MySPR Semak app on the Apple Appstore, Google Playstore and Huawei AppGallery.
