Setel has unveiled a new promo that rewards users with 3x Mesra points for every RM1 that they spent using the fintech app on non-fuel services. Interestingly enough, among the services that are eligible for this offer is electric vehicle charging.
For those who are not familiar with the relationship between Setel and EV, the support for EV charging was first introduced by the Petronas fintech app in May last year. Setel is essentially the preferred app for Gentari chargers and it can also be used with other chargers that are under the JomCharge network.
This new promo is rather enticing, especially for those who love to convert their Mesra points into credit for their Setel wallet. This is because customers would usually get only 1 Mesra point for every RM5 that they spent for EV charging through Setel.
To illustrate our point, here is a quick calculation:
Standard: RM50 = 10 Mesra points = RM0.10 Setel credit.
This promo: RM50 = 150 Mesra points = RM1.50 Setel credit.
Aside from EV charging, the 3x Mesra points promo is also valid for parking payment as well as motor takaful & insurance, auto assistance, and road tax services. In addition to that, the benefit also applies to purchases at Kedai Mesra as well as the Deliver2Me feature at Petronas station.
Not to forget, this promo which will run until 14 July 2023 is applicable for purchases at Petronas Shop online store together with participating physical stores and online merchants. However, DuitNow transactions are not eligible for it though, so you must find stores that natively support Setel as the payment option in order to rack up those Mesra points.
