During today’s Huawei mega launch event in Malaysia, the Chinese tech giant also launched the Mate X3 in Malaysia. This is Huawei’s most premium foldable device yet with an ultra-thin design and it’s also finally water resistant.

Huawei Mate X3 Malaysia Pricing

The Huawei Mate X3 is offered in a single variant in Malaysia that comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage. Available in either Dark Green Vegan Leather and Black, the Huawei Mate X3 is officially priced at RM8,888 in Malaysia. It goes on sale starting today (11th May) across all Huawei Experience Stores, Huawei Online Store, Lazada, Shopee and authorised Huawei partner stores such as Senheng, senQ, Harvey Norman and Urban Republic.

If you order the Huawei Mate X3 from Huawei Online Store, you’ll receive freebies worth up to RM1,160 which include a Huwei MatePad SE WiFi (4+64GB), Huawei Care and My Huawei Exclusive Rewards. If you purchase the new foldable from Huawei Experience Stores, you’ll get a Huawei Eyewear, Huawei Care and My Huawei Exclusive Rewards, worth up to RM1,260 in total.

Huawei Mate X3 Specs

The Huawei Mate X3 retains the same inward folding approach as the Mate X2 and it competes with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Honor Magic Vs. With a thickness of 11mm (5.3mm when unfolded) and weighing 241g, the Mate X3 is claimed to be the lightest and slimmest large screen foldable right now.

On the cover, it gets a 6.4″ Full HD+ 120Hz LTPO OLED panel with Kunlun glass while the inside gets a larger 7.85″ 120Hz flexible OLED display that pushes a resolution of 2496×2224 pixels. For greater versatility, the new hinge boasts Flex Stop mode which allows you to prop the Mate X3 at various angles to take a selfie or group photo, or to accept a video call hands-free.

For taking pictures, it gets a triple-camera setup with XMAGE imaging technology. There’s a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP f/3.4 periscope camera. For selfies, it gets 8MP selfie cameras for both the cover and the internal flexible display.

Despite its ultra-thin form factor, the Huawei Mate X3 still gets a large 4,800mAh battery which supports 66W wired SuperCharge via USB-C and it also supports 50W Wireless SuperCharge. As usual with any new Huawei device, the Mate X3 lacks 5G support and access to the Google Play Store. To discover and download apps, you’ll have to use the Huawei AppGallery.

Out of the box, it runs on Android 13 with EMUI 13.1 skin on top.
