It’s official: The Google Pixel Fold is coming soon

After months of leaks and speculation, Google has finally let the cat out of the bag: the Pixel Fold is real, and will be officially launched during the Google I/O keynote on 10 May (11 May local time). Google had teased it on 4 May, with the Star Wars-inspired caption ‘May the Fold be With You’ on their Twitter.

Of course, we’ll have to wait till Google I/O itself to know more about its specifics, but nearly everything about the Pixel Fold has been leaked already. With an internal codename of ‘Felix’ and coming with what is claimed to be the most durable hinge on a foldable, the Pixel Fold will have an outer display that’s 5.8-inches big and a main display that’s 7.6-inches across. The horizontal camera bar on the back meanwhile is rumoured to feature a main 48MP camera flanked by a 10.8MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP 5x telephoto camera.

It will be water resistant too, with a battery larger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a 24-hour battery life and up to 72 hours in low power mode. We can also expect the Pixel Fold to feature the Google Tensor G2 processor, the same one powering the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro from last year. As for its price, it’s rumoured to start at around the USD1,700 (~RM7,545.62) mark, which is still lower than the USD1,799 starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the US.

If you’re interested in the Google Pixel Fold, you can sign up for more info on it once its launched at Google I/O. However, don’t get your hopes up about it coming to Malaysia just yet; Google has previously never made any of their hardware officially available on our shores, and there’s no sign that that’s set to change with the Pixel Fold just yet.
