If you’re in the market for a laptop but your priorities aren’t exactly about performance or gaming capabilities, but rather a laptop that’s extremely light, portable with a great display yet still able to get the job done, then Asus might have the laptop for you with its new Zenbook S 13 OLED.
The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED will be available in Malaysia by the middle of May, and will come in two different variants:
The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is arguably a pretty striking laptop. It features the Asus monogram logo over the lid, which is made of an Asus-exclusive plasma ceramic aluminium material, with the monogram itself cut using a water jet. The Zenbook S 13 OLED also harks back to the Zenbook lineup’s ultra thin and ultra light roots, with the whole laptop only measuring a centimetre thick and a kilogram in weight.
Asus says that to achieve that they had to get creative with designing the Zenbook S 13 OLED. For instance, they embedded a thinner but still fully featured 1080p IR webcam directly into the CNC-machined lid. The OLED panel used is also an ultraslim one, helping reduce the thickness of the lid by 30%. Even the circuit boards used have fewer layers and a higher wiring density to make it more compact, while the magnesium alloy for the keyboard deck allows it to be lighter yet durable still.
On top of that, Asus claims that the Zenbook S 13 OLED is their most eco-friendly Zenbook they’ve ever made. It’s been designed with carbon neutrality in mind, hence the use of recycled metals and plastics in its construction, allowing for Asus to lower its carbon footprint in the manufacturing of this laptop by over 50%. Perhaps taking a page out of the Acer Vero book, the Zenbook S 13 OLED’s packaging is also reusable, with you able to fold it into a laptop stand.
As for the actual laptop specs itself, you’re looking at a 13.3-inch, 16:10 Asus Lumina OLED display pushing a 2880 x 1800p resolution capable of a peak brightness of 550nits, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut with DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.
Under the hood meanwhile you’ll find up to an Intel Core i7-1355U processor with 16GB of LPDDR5 5200MHz RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. You’ll find Windows 11 Home out of the box, with graphics taken care of by the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 63Wh battery that they claim will last you up to 14 hours, with a 65W adapter bundled together with the Zenbook S 13 OLED.
Elsewhere, there’s two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 port, a HDMI 2.1 port and an audio jack, along with support for WiFI 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. There’s also AI-powered features for improved video conferencing such as noise cancellation and visual effects, Windows Hello logins and a Harman Kardon-certified audio system with Dolby Atmos and Asus Audio Booster technology.
