Besides launching the WF-C700N in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, Sony Malaysia has also introduced a new colour option for the WH-1000XM5. If you don’t fancy Platinum Silver or Black, this pair of over-ear noise-cancelling headphones are now available in Midnight Blue.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 still retails for RM1,799 and the Midnight Blue version will be available in Malaysia starting this month. If you search around during online mega sales, you can easily find a pair going for RM1,199 or less. According to Sony, the WH-1000XM5 uses zero plastic for its packaging material as part of the brand’s commitment to reduce environmental impact.

Launched in May 2022, the WH-1000XM5 features a sleeker cup design with a hinge that connects using a single stem. The closed-back headphones use 30mm neodymium drivers with 4Hz-40,000Hz frequency response and it is powered by Sony’s QN1 chip which offers improved active noise cancellation.

As you would expect from a premium pair of Sony headphones, it also supports Sony LDAC codec as well as Sony’s DSEE Extreme function which upscales your music playback to Hi-Res audio. It also features 360 Reality Audio Certification for an immersive music experience.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 is rated to last up to 30 hours of music playback on a single charge and you can get 3 hours of usage with just 3 minutes of charging via a USB-C PD power adapter. Each unit comes with a soft body collapsible carrying case and a 1.2-metre headphone cable with a gold-plated L-shaped plug.
