Vivo V27 Malaysia: 50MP selfie camera, huge 6.78″ screen and MediaTek Dimensity 7200

Following the launch of the Vivo V27e, Vivo Malaysia has now released a more souped up midrange smartphone with features that should appeal to those of you who love taking selfies in particular, the Vivo V27.

Vivo V27 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Vivo V27 will be available from 1 April onwards, and comes with 256GB of storage as standard though the base model packs just 8GB of RAM while the higher end option has 12GB of RAM. Here’s how much they’ll cost:

  • Vivo V27, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,799
  • Vivo V27, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,999

You’ll be able to find the Vivo V27 on the Vivo eStore, their authorised retailers nationwide as well as their official store on Shopee and Lazada. During the first month of sales, anyone who purchases a Vivo V27will also be able to snag up to RM957 in free gifts, which include an extra year of warranty, a year of screen protection and an exclusive gift box. There’s also an education discount for students on the Vivo V27 12GB variant, with students able to get an additional RM50 off.

Vivo V27 specs

The Vivo V27 features a huge 6.78-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display with curved edges and a 120Hz refresh rate along with 1.07 billion colours. Under the hood meanwhile is a MediaTek Dimensity 7200, a 4nm chip that only debuted earlier this year. It gets mated to up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and will come with Funtouch OS 13 out of the box.

Perhaps the main selling point of the Vivo V27 though is with its camera setup. The front camera in particular is a 50MP, f/2.45 shooter with autofocus which should be of interest to you selfie lovers out there. On the rear meanwhile you’ll find a triple rear camera setup with a main 50MP, f/1.88 camera using a Sony IMX766V sensor flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter and a 2MP, f/2.4 macro lens, as well as Vivo’s rear ‘Aura Light’ for taking portrait mode shots.

Elsewhere, the Vivo V27 has a relatively small 4,600mAh battery for its size, though you do get 66W fast charging that Vivo claims will be able to charge up the device from 1% to 50% in just 19 minutes. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor and support for WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and 5G wireless connectivity. It measures 7.36mm thick and weighs 180g.

The Vivo V27 will be available in three colour options, namely Emerald Green, Flowing Gold and Noble Black. The Emerald Green features a colour-changing effect under UV light, while the Flowing Gold colourway has what Vivo is calling a 3D Light Spot Colour Gradient that forms a water ripple pattern for a 3D-like visual effect. The Noble Black meanwhile has Fluorite AG Glass with a glittery texture on it inspired by the night sky.
