Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot Malaysia: This Thermomix rival will cook all your meals for RM4,599

For decades, Thermomix has cornered the market for all-in-one cooking appliances, making it the go-to choice for those with limited time for preparing meals. But it’s now facing a new challenger in the shape of Xiaomi with its Smart Cooking Robot, which the company claims can prepare any dish using a similar array of heating, chopping and blending tools.

Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot Malaysia price and availability

The Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot is priced at RM4,599, which, while certainly pricey, is significantly less expensive than the RM7,488 Thermomix TM6. Like the company’s other smart home appliances, it’s currently available to purchase from authorised Xiaomi stores and official retailers, as well as the official Shopee and Lazada stores.

Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot specs and features

Like the Thermomix, the Smart Cooking Robot makes use of two key technologies. The first is a 1,200W 3D induction heating coil built into the triple-layer stainless steel pot, enabling the latter to get up to 180ºC, which Xiaomi says is hot enough for stir frying.

The second is a 500W reluctance electric motor that can spin at up to 12,000rpm, driving blades that can grind and chop ingredients when spinning in one direction and mix them in the other. It can even knead dough by rotating the blade in different directions. A cleaning function is built into the appliance, letting you wash fruits, vegetables, meat and the pot itself, simply by pouring water into it.

Xiaomi claims the cooker can perform 35 functions, including frying, slow cooking, steaming, rice cooking, fermenting, meat mincing, boiling and food processing. You’ll even be able to make coffee, soy milk, baby food, juices and yoghurt, among others.

Powering all of this is a CookingIoT chip that can calculate the cooking temperature, time and stirring speed for each dish. Users can control the appliance using a rotary knob and a large eight-inch touchscreen, giving them access to over 200 online recipes and letting them update the software over-the-air.

Additionally, the Smart Cooking Robot comes with a weighing scale built in—you can measure ingredients down to just 1g. Aside from the cooker itself, the Smart Cooking Robot also comes with several accessories to aid your cooking, including a steamer and steamer shelf, liquid catch tray, measuring cup, mesh basket and whisk.
