Oppo Find N2 Flip Malaysia: Price and spec roundup

Launched in Malaysia yesterday, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is probably the first real challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip hegemony. Priced at a startlingly ambitious RM3,999—exactly the same price as the equivalent Z Flip 4 currently goes for, thanks to a handy RM400 discount—this pocketable foldable has nevertheless got a few key advantages over its more established Korean rival. Watch the video below to find out more.

A shade under four grand buys you the sole available Find N2 Flip variant, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip that doesn’t quite afford the same cachet as the Samsung’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but it’s still a flagship-class processor with a similar level of performance—at least on paper.

But there are three key reasons for picking the Oppo, the biggest being quite literally the cover screen. The 3.26-inch AMOLED display shades the Samsung’s tiny 1.9-inch panel, enabling extra functions like a full-sized weather widget and multiple timers. It’s also vertical, matching the orientation of the dual cameras and therefore making it much easier to frame your shots.

Flip the phone open and you’ll find a 6.8-inch AMOLED LTPO touchscreen with a 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 1,200 nits of brightness and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. You’ll also find the Find N2 Flip’s second USP—a far shallower crease to the Z Flip 4, thanks to a new-generation Flexion Hinge that folds the screen in a teardrop shape. This has the added benefit of folding the device fully flat, instead of leaving a gap in between like the Samsung does.

Elsewhere, you’ll find a much larger 4,300mAh battery, along with 44W SuperVOOC fast charging instead of the Z Flip 4’s meagre 25W. However, the Find N2 Flip lacks any form of wireless charging; it should also be noted that the Oppo doesn’t carry an IP rating, whereas the Samsung is IPX8 water resistant.

The cameras are also nothing to write home about. The Find N2 Flip may carry Hasselblad branding, but it’s affixed to a 50MP main camera with a relatively small 1/1.56-inch sensor, an f/1.8 aperture and no optical image stabilisation, along with an 8MP ultra-wide with an f/2.2 aperture. There is at least a respectable 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture, along with the in-house MariSilicon X image signal processor (ISP).

Elsewhere, the Find N2 Flip features 5G connectivity, support for WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and a side fingerprint reader. The device ships with Android 13 skinned with ColorOS 13, and you can expect at least three years of major Android updates and four years of security patches (although the company has said it will provide four years of major updates and five years and security patches to selected flagships launched this year; presumably this phone is one of them).

The Find N2 Flip is available in either matte Moonlit Purple or a textured Astral Black. Sales kick off on March 11, with pre-orders coming with a free PU case worth RM129, a year of extended warranty worth RM259 and a pair of Oppo Enco Air 3 wireless earbuds worth RM249. You’ll also be offered the chance to purchase a year of Oppo Care screen protection at RM299, RM300 off the regular RM599 price.

You’ll also get a mystery gift as part of International Women’s Day if you pre-order from selected Oppo Brand Stores and the online Oppo Store from now until March 5.
