Celcom and Digi extend free 5G access until 30 April, Digi to charge RM10/month for 5G on cheaper plans

CelcomDigi has announced an extension of its free 5G access offer for eligible Celcom and Digi customers. If you’ve been enjoying free access to Digital Nasional Berhad’s 5G network, you are still able to do so at no extra cost until 30th April 2023. Meanwhile, Digi is also unlocking 5G access for even more customers including those on prepaid as well as their cheaper postpaid plans including supplementary family lines.

Digi enables 5G for more customers

According to the telco, they are offering its free trial 5G access to prepaid customers starting 16th March 2023 on selected monthly internet plans. To access the 5G network, customers on eligible Digi Postpaid and Prepaid customers will have to purchase a new 5G Booster for RM10 per month from the MyDigi app. As an introductory offer, the monthly fee for 5G is waived for all activations during the free trial access period from today until 30th April 2023.

  • Digi Postpaid 50 2022
  • Digi Postpaid 60 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 60 DS 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 70 2022
  • Digi Postpaid 80 2022
  • Digi Postpaid 90 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 90 DS 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 120 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 120 DS 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 150 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 150 DS 2021
  • Digi Postpaid 200 2022
  • Digi Postpaid Family 45 Unlimited
  • Digi Postpaid Family 20 2021
  • Digi Postpaid Family 30 2021
  • Digi Postpaid Family 45 2021
  • Digi Postpaid Family 45 DS 2021

From 1st May 2023, the RM10 per month fee will apply but it will still remain free for customers on Digi Postpaid 90 and above. In the coming months, CelcomDigi will be introducing more 5G booster options with flexibility for customers to choose their preferred 5G experience. More information will be revealed in Q2 2023. More 5G offers for Celcom customers to be announced soon

Similar to Digi, Celcom customers who are currently enjoying free 5G trial access on Celcom MEGA postpaid, Xpax Postpaid and Xpax Prepaid can still enjoy the free access until 30th April 2023. CelcomDigi says they will also introduce more 5G offers with the flexibility for customers to choose their preferred 5G experience and it will be announced in Q2 2023.

We still don’t know how much Celcom postpaid and prepaid customers will have to pay to continue to enjoy 5G from May onwards. However, it was previously stated that Xpax prepaid customers will have to pay RM10 per month for 5G access.

Interestingly, Celcom has mentioned in their FAQ that the 2TB high-speed data quota for Celcom Mega 188 postpaid will be reverted to the existing quota of 120GB after the free 5G access promo period is over.
