Nothing Phone (1) finally gets Android 13 with Nothing OS 1.5 update

After a long wait, the flashy Nothing Phone (1) is finally getting its major Android OS update with the arrival of Nothing OS 1.5. Besides updating the phone from Android 12 to Android 13, the new system update also brings a host of new features, UI tweaks and improvements for the Nothing Phone (1).

For more bling, Nothing has included an all-new Glyph soundpack and there are more colour schemes available for the wallpaper selector. The new update also offers a more convenient way to switch mobile data between two SIMs from the quick settings panel and it will also show your current network and how much data you’ve consumed so far.

Nothing also claims to provide a couple of performance improvements which include improved fingerprint unlock accuracy by 12%, quicker app startup speed by up to 71% and improved standby power consumption by up to 50%. As usual, the system update also fixes general bug fixes and increased system stability.

The latest Nothing OS update also brings a newer security patch that’s dated January 2023. It is 157MB in size and it is best to download over a WiFi connection.

At the moment, the Nothing Phone (1) is priced from RM1,499 in Malaysia for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version. Meanwhile, the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is now going for RM1,999 while the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option is going for RM2,299.
