This Cooler Master powerbank also doubles as a GaN charger

During CES 2023, Cooler Master—a company that produces things like computer cases, power supplies, and other peripherals—has introduced quite a cool powerbank. Dubbed the Cooler Master Dual Mode PD 65W, it also doubles as a GaN charger.

In terms of charging, this powerbank is equipped with two outputs—a USB-C port and a port for USB-A. The USB-C port supports charging technology Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 as well as Quick Charge (QC) 3.0) of up to 65W. The USB-A port supports up to 20W.

If both ports are used, the highest output for USB-C is at 45W. This means that it has enough power to charge things like the Macbook Air, the Surface Laptop, or the iPad at full speed.

To charge the powerbank itself, the owner needs to connect the unit directly to the power socket instead of using the USB cable like with other powerbanks. There are also several types of connector pins available according to the country where you are using—which makes this powerbank super easy to use when travelling.

The Cooler Master Dual Mode PD 65W has 15,000mAh capacity. For casual use, it is enough to basically cover a day’s worth.

There isn’t much information about the powerbank beyond this. But with this 2-in-1 item, you might potentially longer need to trouble yourself with your laptop’s power cable in the future.

We also don’t know when the product will go on sale, or how much it will retail. However, we expect that the price could be pretty steep. A conventional PD 65W powerbank that you can find on Shopee can already cost more than RM200.
