[ UPDATE 5/1/2023 15:05 ] The Go To-U EV charging hub has been launched, with two 60kW DC fast chargers (4x 30kW connectors) that will be offered free for customers to use until the end of the month.

Electric vehicles are becoming popular in Malaysia, and to support the influx of cars, charging stations are popping up fast. And there’s a new player soon to arrive—California-based charging solutions provider Go To-U has tweeted it will soon open a new charging hub in the country.
As many users have pointed out, the station will be located in Rekascape Cyberjaya, as listed on the PlugShare charging station map. The event space is already home to two ChargEV 22kW AC chargers, which were featured prominently in our Volvo XC40 Recharge Twin review.
By the looks of it, the hub will have covered space for four EVs to charge simultaneously; one person in the Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club (MyEVOC) Facebook group said the station, which will apparently be launched next week, will feature two 60kW DC fast chargers—both with two guns. A few photos that have surfaced in the group also show a “lifestyle hub” with home chargers on display (and probably for sale).
The new Go To-U charging hub will almost certainly receive an Electric Vehicle Charging System (EVCS) licence from the Energy Commission out of the gate, required for all new and existing charging stations from March 31 onwards. This means it will be able to charge customers per kWh of charge, which is fairer to EV users than the time-based calculation used by most stations currently.
Go To-U isn’t a charging network in the traditional sense. Instead, it sells software solutions and chargers to EV charging station operators; it also has an app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) that allows you to locate a station, book ahead of time and plan your route. Sime Darby Motors has already listed its charging network—mostly consisting of subsidiary Auto Bavaria BMW and Mini dealers, along with a few other locations—on the app, as reported by paultan.org.
