I guess Xiaomi‘s pulling out all the stops for the brand new Xiaomi 13 Pro. Off the top of my head I can’t think about many other features that I’d want to see from a mainstream smartphone, which makes the fact that Xiaomi’s managed to put all of this into theirs, very exciting.

Let’s not beat around the bush, we’ll start with the headline act. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a flagship smartphone through and through. Up front, you’ll find a 6.73″ Quad HD OLED display with support for adaptive 120Hz refresh rate thanks to an LTPO panel. This display pushes a resolution of 3200×1400 pixels and has a max brightness of 1200 nits and a peak brightness of 1900 nits.
It supports HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision to boot. On top of that, Xiaomi says that each screen has been colour calibrated out of the factory based on the P3 and sRGB colour gamuts, with an emphasis of being true to life.

The reason they want the screen to be as good as they can get it is because they’ve seriously brought the big guns for its photography. Co-developed with Leica, the star of the show here is the 50MP 1″ Sony IMX989 sensor that you’d find on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. It takes photos at a 23mm equivalent focal length through its f/1.9 aperture lens, and it also supports OIS.

I’ve seen first hand how incredible the photos from this sensor can be, but there were also a couple of things I would have liked to see improved about the imaging capabilities. So, I’m excited to see if they’ve done anything to improve those for the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
Besides that, you’ll also find a 50MP 3x telephoto camera with a 75mm equivalent focal length and an f/2 aperture. What’s interesting here is that there’s a floating lens element in this that appears to allow a close focusing distance of just 10cm.

Rounding out the triple camera system is another 50MP sensor for the ultra-wide camera that’ll feature an f/2.2 aperture lens that shoots at a 14mm equivalent focal length. This is also the camera you use for macro.
At the heart of this phone, you’ll find a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. Besides that, you’ll find a 4,820 mAh battery keeping everything running, and that also supports fast wired charging of up to 120W and fast wireless charging of up to 50W. There’s also 10W of reverse wireless charging support.

Besides that, Xiaomi has also finally included IP68 dust and water resistance on their mainstream flagship, a pair of Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, and even kept the IR blaster which is nice to see.
I can’t tell you too much about how this smartphone feels in the hand but the materials look good. Three of the four colourways offered—White, Black, Green—feature ceramic backs, while the Blue variant is apparently made of some “nano-skin” that looks a lot like the vegan leather options you’d find in some other smartphones. Considering Xiaomi’s recent finesse and build quality on their mainstream flagships, I think these should be quite solid.

Xiaomi hasn’t revealed Malaysian pricing for this smartphone yet, because so far it has only launched in China, but this device comes in multiple different configurations. Here’s the pricing in China:
