The iQoo 11 5G is Malaysia’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphone

Qualcomm had unveiled their next generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processor back in November, and since then a couple of smartphones with the chip have already appeared in China. However, it’s taken until now for a smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in it to arrive in Malaysia in the form of the iQoo 11 5G from the Vivo sub-brand.

iQoo 11 5G Malaysia pricing and availability

The iQoo 11 5G will be made available for purchase from the 9th of December onwards, with a retail price of RM3,499. You’ll be able to find it on the on sale from the Vivo eStore, as well as the official iQoo Malaysia store on Lazada and Shopee as well as their TikTok stop. You can also get them at physical Vivo concept store outlets from 13 December onwards.

On top of that, the iQoo 11 5G can also be yours for just RM3,299 from 9 December till 15 December. Those who do get the iQoo 11 5G during this time will also be entitled to a 1-to-1 replacement for manufacturing defects, an iQoo VIP card and a chance to purchase with purchase a pair of iQoo Wireless Active earbuds that normally goes for RM139 for RM99.

iQoo 11 5G specs

The iQoo 11 5G is the Vivo sub-brand’s latest flagship gaming smartphone and their first in Malaysia, and right off the bat you might notice the BMW M Motorsport theme of the ‘Legend’ colourway. That’s because iQoo is an official partner of the BMW, and the iQoo 11 5G’s design is meant to show off a combination of iQoo and BMW M’s colours. The back panel itself is made of fibreglass and vegan leather, with a stain-resistant coating over it.

Flip the iQoo 11 5G around and you’ll find a large 6.78-inch, 1400 x 3200p AMOLED display capable of pushing a 144Hz refresh rate. There’s also HDR 10+ certification and support for a billion colours. The iQoo 11 5G also has an additional V2 chip that can boost frame rates in games up to 120fps, even in titles that don’t officially support high refresh rates.

Under the hood meanwhile is of course the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip, mated to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. If that’s not enough memory, you can also add on up to 8GB of extended virtual RAM. Keeping it all cool meanwhile is a liquid cooling system using a 4,013mm² stamped stainless steel vapour chamber.

As for the cameras, the iQoo 11 5G packs a triple rear camera setup, with a main 50MP camera using the Samsung ISOCELL GN5 sensor. This gets flanked by a 13MP telephoto and portrait camera with a 3x optical zoom as well as an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. You’ll also find a 16MP front-facing camera for your selfie needs.

Other features of note include a 5,000mAh battery with 120W FlashCharge fast charging that iQoo claims will be able to power up from zero to a hundred in just 25 minutes. There’s also stereo speakers and some number of gaming-focused features too, such as being able to split the left and right sides of the screen into additional buttons for more control.
