The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a remarkable consumer drone from what I’ve seen. Although I haven’t had the chance to give it a full review, I did get the chance to see it in the wild and the thing that stood out to me was just how shockingly silent it flies. Paired with the suite of features, portability and safety capabilities, it’s definitely where I’d recommend regular consumers like you and me to look if they want to pick up a drone.
But it also starts at RM3,399 for the base set and RM4,199 if you want the Fly More Kit. That’s not a price tag that’s easy for everyone to swallow. And if the price is the main thing stopping you from picking up this sub 250g drone, there might be good news on the horizon because it looks like the company is ready to launch a brand new DJI Mini 3.
According to Twitter user @ShaneScordamag1, the drone was on sale in their local Best Buy…momentarily. It appears that the massive retail store made a slight mistake putting the upcoming products on their shelves before the drone was even officially launched by DJI. But, thanks to this apparent error, we basically have confirmation that the drone will becoming soon and also an idea of how much it would cost.
From the photo, the price that was listed was for the Fly More Kit with the new RC controller and was set at USD859.99, which is about RM3,756 in today’s exchange rate. This is a significantly lower price tag that the RM4,999 that you’d have to pay for the Mini 3 Pro’s New RC Fly More Kit combo. This kit typically includes stuff like extra batteries, propellers, charging hubs, shoulder bags and a bunch of other useful things for first-time drone flyers, as well as the new controller with built-in screen.
However, we don’t know how much the other variants will be priced, or how many other combos there could be for this non-Pro drone. With the existing DJI Mini 3 Pro, there are basically two sets of bundles—one with the new DJI RC controller with a built-in screen, and one without. According to reliable leaker @DealsDrone, it looks like there will also be a DJI Mini 3 with the regular controller too.
That said, you should expect to give up some things for this drop in price. While nothing official has made the news, rumour has it that the DJI Mini 3 will drop its front-facing sensors, and have a shorter range than its Pro counterpart. According to the photo in the tweet above and user @konrad_it, the drone will have a 38-minute flight time, true vertical shooting, and 4K HDR video recording to boot. While it sucks to lose the sensors, depending on the pricing, it could well be worth it.
Though, these are still unconfirmed at this point. The one exciting thing you can look forward to is that this drone is likely coming really soon if retailers already have the devices in stock. But we’re not sure if they’ll even have an official event or if it will just show up on your store shelves later this month. Only time will tell.
