BMW Malaysia partners with JomCharge, offers RM640 EV charging membership with RM800 credits

Having led the way with promoting the local electric vehicle charging infrastructure, BMW Group Malaysia is expanding its network by partnering with JomCharge. This complements its existing collaboration with ChargEV, the country’s largest EV charging provider.

JomCharge currently has a network of over 100 chargers, located in the Klang Valley and along highways like the North-South Highway and the East Coast Expressway (ECE). These include around 50 charging stations operated by Petronas’ Gentari—such as the gleaming new 350kW DC chargers launched today.

To get its customers onto the network, the car company is giving new and existing BMW owners the option to subscribe to BMW Charging. This one-year membership costs RM640 and gives users that amount in JomCharge credits plus an additional RM160 of complimentary credits, resulting in a total value of RM800. The subscription also provides an additional 10% discount every time you charge your car.

The BMW Charging membership will be added on top of the company’s ChargeNow initiative, which gives new BMW EV and plug-in hybrid buyers a year’s free subscription to the ChargEV network, worth RM240. They’ll also continue to enjoy preferential rates at chargers installed at BMW dealerships across the country.

With this partnership, BMW and Mini owners effectively have access to over 550 chargers in Malaysia, including more than 330 ChargEV stations (26 of them at Starbucks locations in the Klang Valley, Penang, Melaka and Johor), over 65 JomCharge stations and around 50 Gentari chargers. There are also more than 80 chargers located at most BMW and Mini showrooms, with plans to expand the network further next year.
