Here’s how to connect two earphones to a Samsung Galaxy phone or iPhone | Ask Us Anything #29

Welcome back to another episode of Ask Us Anything, where we gather your questions from the internet and answer them.

In today’s episode, we answer, how to connect 2 earphones to a Samsung Galaxy phone or iPhone, why Samsung’s wireless earphones are not as good as Sony’s, and what is the cheapest prepaid and postpaid plan on U mobile.

What is the cheapest prepaid & postpaid plan U mobile offers?

Ok, let’s start with prepaid first which U mobile offers two plans, the cheapest of which is called the U25. You get unlimited data capped at 3Mbps, unlimited calls, and a speed booster of up to 30 hours a month.

But there are a couple of things you need to know. Firstly, the fair usage policy for unlimited data is 30GB and the speed booster allows you to get 1 hour of maximum speed a day for 30 days. U mobile’s U25 normally costs RM25 a month, but for a limited time, you can subscribe for RM20 a month.

On the postpaid side, you get three options, starting with U Postpaid 38 for RM38 a month. It’s a simple plan with 30GB of high-speed data and unlimited calls to all networks.

If you frequently travel overseas, you might be interested in the next step up, which is the U Postpaid 68 plan. Here you get 100GB of high-speed data, unlimited calls to all networks, and free 15GB of roaming data when travelling to 63 countries. This plan cost an additional RM30 at RM68 a month.

How to connect 2 earphones to a Samsung Galaxy phone or iPhone

Connecting two headphones to one phone makes it easier to watch videos together with another person. Called Dual Audio, it is supported by Bluetooth 5.0 and above. However, the availability of this feature depends on the phone’s hardware capabilities, Android version and the manufacturer’s optimisations.

The most popular brand known to support this feature is Samsung on their flagship Galaxy smartphone and tablet since the Galaxy S8.

Firstly, pair both wireless headphones to the phone. This works with any pair of wireless headphones. Then, click on Media in the notification panel. If you can’t find this, expand the quick toggles page and click on the 3 dots. Choose Quick panel layout and toggle on “show media and devices”.

On the Media page, check the boxes next to both the headphones and you should hear audio come out from both headphones.

Apple supports this feature on their mobile devices running iOS 13 or later with Bluetooth 5.0 or later. The caveat here is that it only works with AirPods and selected Beats models.

Again, you will need to pair both wireless headphones to the iPhone. Once that’s done, swipe down to open the control centre and look for the Airplay button at the top-right-hand corner of the currently active audio widget. Click on it and you’ll see a list of all the connected devices. Here, make sure both headphones are checked as active.

Once done you should hear audio coming out of both pairs of headphones. If your phone supports this dual audio feature, let me know down in the comments.

Why Samsung’s wireless earphones are not as good as Sony’s?

Well, Sony does have more experience when it comes to producing audio equipment. However, Samsung is trying to offer higher quality audio and it’s apparent with its latest Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

These pair of wireless earphones support 24-bit audio via Samsung’s proprietary seamless codec (SSC HiFi), which means they will only work on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Whether this feature will actually improve the audio quality is yet to be determined, so stay tuned to Soyacincau as we might review them.

Other than that, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro sport new coaxial two-way speakers, tuned by AKG and come with active noise cancellation (ANC). The buds are also rated for IPX7 for water resistance.

With ANC on, you get up to five hours of playtime, extending to eight hours with it off. The charging case brings the total play time up to 18 hours and 29 hours respectively. Speaking of the case, it comes with Qi wireless charging so you can charge it with your phone’s reverse charging feature.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro retail for RM899.
