YTL Communication’s Yes 5G has introduced its 5G broadband offering that’s called Yes Wireless Fibre. The service promises to provide fibre-like speeds over 5G without the hassles of a wired broadband installation.

Yes Wireless Fibre Plans

The Yes Wireless Fibre Plan offers unlimited 5G data for RM148/month on a 24-month contract. Although Yes 5G is capable of providing download speeds exceeding 1Gbps for its mobile plans, the wireless broadband offering appears to be speed-capped at 120Mbps on a best-effort basis. If you need to use the plan outside Digital Nasional Berhad’s 5G coverage, there’s also 150GB of 4G LTE data. Also bundled is a 5G router worth RM1,199 that’s capable of connecting up to 32 devices over WiFi.

If you also need connectivity on the go, Yes also has a bundle plan where you can get 120Mbps home wireless broadband plus two additional mobile lines for RM229/month on a 24-month contract. The two supplementary lines are basically Yes Infinite Basic which offers unlimited 4G and 5G data, unlimited domestic calls and 10GB of hotspot quota.

If you plan on giving it a go, the two Yes 5G wireless fibre plans also come with a 7-day return policy. You can sign up online and they will ship the 5G wireless router and the SIM directly to your doorstep for free. Take note that you’ll need to pay a one-month subscription as an advance payment.

Yes 5G coverage

Klang Valley 5G Coverage
Johor 5G Coverage
Kelantan 5G Coverage
Ipoh 5G Coverage

At the moment, DNB’s 5G network covers 30% of the national population with a greater concentration in the Klang Valley. The network has also expanded to other areas including Ketereh and Kampung Peringat in Kelantan, Ipoh in Perak, Johor Bahru and most recently, in Penang. According to DNB’s rollout plan, it aims to achieve 40% 5G population coverage by the end of 2022 and 80% 5G population coverage by end of 2024.
