For gamers that already have the best of the best gaming hardware out there, it’s a bit pointless to build a killer gaming PC if you don’t also have the display to show it off. Well, if that sounds like you, then Samsung has a solution for you: a massive 55-inch, 4K curved gaming display with a 165Hz refresh rate, dubbed the Samsung Odyssey Ark.

Samsung Odyssey Ark Malaysia pricing and availability

The Samsung Odyssey Ark is now available for pre-order, with a recommended retail price of RM13,999. If you’re keen, you’ll be able to pre-order it from now till the 18th of September at the Samsung Malaysia online store as well as any Samsung Brand Store nationwide. Samsung are also throwing in a complimentary Samsung The Freestyle portable projector worth RM4,999 if you do pre-order the Odyssey Ark.

Samsung Odyssey Ark specs

First revealed during CES 2022, many have been waiting for the Odyssey Ark to show up now due to it being one of the only monitors this big with this many features. Sporting a 55-inch, curved VA panel with a 4K (3840 x 2160p) resolution, Samsung claims that the Odyssey Ark will ‘overwhelm your senses’ with its size. It also features a tight 1000R curve to it, and the panel itself is capable of 600nits of brightness with HDR10+ support.

Other notable specs include 1,056 zones of local dimming thanks to its use of Mini LED, with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio too with Mega DCR. There’s even a flex move feature that allows you to change the aspect ratio of the display from 16:9 to either 21:9 or even the super ultrawide 32:9, dimming the rest of the display. It also has a 1ms response time and can push up to a 165Hz refresh rate for the competitive gamers out there, complete with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The Odyssey Ark has a 178° viewing angle, and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut too.

Alternatively, if you want to you can buy the 55-inch Odyssey Ark and then make the display smaller, switching to up to a 27-inch display and positioning it anywhere around the screen to fit your needs. Samsung justifies this by claiming that you can use it to completely replace your multi-display setup, using just this one monitor to show up to four displays at once. There’s also a cockpit mode letting you rotate the monitor into a vertical display if you’d like.

The Odyssey Ark will come with a solar-powered remote control too, dubbed the Ark Dial. You will want to use it to navigate around the in-built operating system called Gaming Hub, allowing you to access streaming services and switch between your different consoles and your PC. There’s also four speakers and two woofers for a 60W 2.2.2 channel audio setup.

Behind, you’ll find four HDMI 2.1 ports, two USB ports, an ethernet port and a VESA mount. You’ll also want to make sure you clear plenty of space for the Odyssey Ark, as it measures 1174.8 x 1102.0 x 379mm, and weighs a hefty 41.5kg with its stand. Included along with the box is a 1.5m long power cable.
