The government has started the delivery of its PerantiSiswa tablets which consists of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 along with additional accessories. If you’re wondering what it looks like, TikTok user Ahn Fizal has shared a quick unboxing video of the PerantiSiswa tablet bundle along with the startup screen.

As shown earlier by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, eligible B40 students will receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 LTE complete with a Samsung Bluetooth keyboard, pen stylus and a book cover. The items are packed in a customised PerantiSiswa box with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the cover.

@ahnfizal_ after a long waiting, finally i received my peranti siswa! and yes im so happy that we don’t have to return it 🤩✨ #fyp #foryou #perantisiswa #perantisiswa2022 #unboxing #tiktokmalaysia #factdivision ♬ Talk that Talk – TWICE

As announced on Saturday during the launch ceremony, the Prime Minister said the tablets are given as a one-off to students instead of a loan scheme. This means the students are no longer required to return the tablets after completing their studies. Since the tablets are non-returnable, Annuar Musa hopes that they will take good care of it and not resell them for a profit.

Annuar revealed that over 100,000 applications for the free tablet were received under Phase 1 and there are now over 50,000 applications received so far under Phase 2. The PerantiSiswa programme was announced during the tabling of Budget 2022 with a budget of RM450 million to provide tablets to students in institutions of higher learning for both public and private sectors. The Minister said they have maintained the same budget ceiling and due to the bulk procurement, they even managed to get some savings which enables them to extend the program to include more B40 students including those who are studying in Form 6 and matriculation.

Earlier on, the public has expressed mixed reactions about the bundle box featuring Ismail Sabri’s face on it. Some were curious if the government will add customised skins or interface for PerantiSiswa. From the startup video by @ahnfizal_, it appears that these Galaxy Tab A8 will get a short animated video upon startup which shows the logos of Ministry of Communications and Multimedia as well as the PerantiSiswa #KeluargaMalaysia.

@ahnfizal_ Replying to @nomore boleh, nanti saya upload, anyway terkejut buka2 tablet kluar montage ni 😂✨ pape pun marilah bersyukur tibew #fyp #foryou #perantisiswa #perantisiswa2022 #factdivision ♬ After LIKE – IVE

Some in the TikTok video commented that it is fortunate that the tablets don’t show the face of the PM which will be a shocker. If you’re an eligible B40 student, you can still apply for the PerantiSiswa tablet under Phase 2 online by 30th September 2022.
