Following the initial announcement by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa back in August that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 LTE was going to be the tablet of choice for the PerantiSiswa program, we’ve now finally gotten a better look at what the whole PerantiSiswa bundle will come with.
Annuar Musa had posted on his Facebook pictures of the full PerantiSiswa tablet bundle, complete with shots of the accompanying Bluetooth keyboard, stylus and a book cover casing alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 LTE tablet itself. According to his post, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri will officially launch it at 2.30pm at UiTM Shah Alam tomorrow.
However, there were some peculiar things about the whole PerantiSiswa setup that we couldn’t help but notice. For starters, both the Book Cover and the Stylus Pen in the pictures feature the Samsung C&T logo rather than the usual Samsung logo on them. Samsung C&T for context is the construction and engineering arm of Samsung, and is obviously not Samsung Mobile themselves. These two accessories are also not listed on the Samsung website. Also, they all seem to come in a PerantiSiswa box, complete with a picture of Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri.
Nevertheless, it’s certainly seems much better than the tablet that Annuar Musa had shown off back in April, complete with a no-name brand keyboard and book cover bundle. The included Smart Keyboard Trio 500 with the current PerantiSiswa bundle for example is a pretty solid keyboard, with the accessory normally retailing at RM179. It’s also nice to see a Samsung (or rather, Samsung C&T) branded stylus and book cover too. For context, here’s what we originally thought would be included based on Annuar Musa’s tweet in April:
If you’re a student who’s eligible for one of these PerantiSiswa bundles, the second phase of the application program is going on right now until the 30th of September; you can apply for it here. As announced earlier by Annuar Musa, the government had loosened the restrictions for the PerantiSiswa program to include foundation and matriculation students in public universities, Form 6 students as well as those doing vocational diplomas. Meanwhile, students who had already applied for it during the last application phase will begin receiving them by the end of this month.
