In Malaysia, most of us are probably used to buying stuff from Shopee and Lazada, but in large chunks of the Western world Amazon is the biggest online shopping platform to buy stuff from. In fact, within Southeast Asia, the only country that Amazon has a presence in is Singapore.
However, Amazon Singapore is now having a promotion where shoppers can enjoy ‘free and fast delivery’ to Malaysia—as long as your order has an aggregate value of over SGD40 (~RM128.72) and above. According to their promotional page, the international free delivery promotion won’t include every item though, only those with ‘Free delivery’ written on its product page and if its shipped and sold by Amazon US, Amazon SG or fulfilled by Amazon.
Another thing to note is that if you’re purchasing items that are shipped from and sold by Amazon US as well as items shipped from and sold by Amazon SG or fulfilled by Amazon in a single order, you’ll need to meet that SGD40 minimum purchase amount separately.
That being said though, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of products available that meet all of these criteria. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of options at all, with searches for products from the likes of Xiaomi and Apple for example not leading to a lot of results. Often times, you won’t even get what you’re looking for; searching for an Apple iPad on the Amazon Singapore store got us listings for the Lenovo Tab P11, Samsung Tab A8 from 2019 and the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite along with some Logitech iPad accessories, but not the actual tablet from Apple itself.
Furthermore, the prices for a lot of them also aren’t as low as the same ones listed on Shopee and Lazada. For example, we found a CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter going for SGD160 (~RM514.96) on Amazon Singapore, while the same CarPlay adapter can be found on Shopee for RM386.
At the very least, if you can’t find what you need or want on Shopee or Lazada, you’ll at least now have Amazon Singapore as a backup option… as long as it meets the minimum SGD40 value, has the ‘Free delivery’ tag on it and is shipped and sold by either Amazon US or Amazon Singapore. It also does seem as though it’s a limited time option, with eligible listings having a ‘order within’ time frame for the free delivery.
