Astro is introducing Disney+ Hotstar app on the Ulti Box—something that only Ultra Box users had, previously. However, you’d first need to have an active Disney+ Hotstar subscription.
“First launched on the Ultra Box earlier this year, from today, all Ulti Box customers with an active Disney+ Hotstar subscription will be able to enjoy the benefits of the Disney+ Hotstar app. With the exciting addition of this popular streaming service, Ulti Box customers can now switch between hit local channels and the Disney+ Hotstar app’s library of endless entertainment without ever needing to leave the Astro interface,” wrote Astro in its press release.
If you’re new to Astro’s services, the Ulti Box is offered to new subscribers who sign up for the base “Primary Pack” that costs RM59.99 per month. If you go for other more premium Packs, Astro offers the 4K Ultra Box instead—the price depends on which packs you get. For example, the Entertainment Plus pack costs RM129.99 per month, while the Platinum option, which offers more channels as well as Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Go, costs RM194.99 per month.
Ulti Boxes allow customers to stream content in HD, pause, rewind or fast-forward live events, and stream up to 90,000 On Demand titles across their devices. However, if the Ulti Box’s more basic Primary Plan users want added apps like Netflix, they can add on a package like Entertainment Plus.
If you have an Ulti Box now, here’s how to access Disney+ Hotstar:
- Press “Home” on your Astro remote control
- Under the “Apps” rail, select “Disney+ Hotstar”
- Follow the steps on screen to pair your Disney+ Hotstar account for first-time users
If you haven’t registered for a Disney+ Hotstar account yet, you’d need to make one. It costs RM54.90 every 3 months, and you’re able to access it on your other devices—not just on your Ulti Box. It’s just that other plans by Astro already come with Disney+ Hotstar without you needing to pay for a separate account.
Astro also announced that they are introducing multi-user profiles, just like Netflix. According to Astro, the feature has already started to roll out to customers in phases and will be available to all customers soon.
