Welcome back to another episode of Ask Us Anything, where we gather your questions from the internet and answer them.

In today’s episode, we are going to find out what phones with good cameras you can buy with a budget of around RM1,000, if the RedmiBook 15 is good for office use, and the function of eco pro drive mode on a BMW?

Phones with good cameras for around RM1,000

Well, here are some options provided by Alex for budget phones with good cameras.

First up, we have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. It features a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide angle lens and a 2MP macro camera. There is no optical image stabilisation or OIS to be found here.

Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s a 5,000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging using the included charger.

If you want OIS, you might want to consider the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. It has a smaller 48MP main camera, but with OIS. There’s also an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Under the hood, you’ll find an Exynos 1280 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Powering the device is a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging using an optional charger because there’s no charger in the box.

Can the RedmiBook 15 handle office use?

I asked our expert on everything computers, Raymond what he thought of the RedmiBook 15. He said that for office use like word processing, spreadsheets and working with PDFs, the laptop’s 11th Gen Intel Core processors are more than capable of handling the tasks. It is also backed by 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of SSD storage.

However, he would like to stress that there are no USB C ports available. So, it’s not so future-proof in the ports department. That also means it doesn’t support USB C Power Delivery charging. Therefore, you won’t get a compact GAN charger like the one a Huawei MateBook 13.

Instead, you will need to carry an old-school power adapter with a barrel jack connector.

If the lack of a USB C port doesn’t bother you, then you can find more information about the RedmiBook 15 in our article here.

How does BMW’s eco pro mode work?

The eco pro mode is designed to make your BMW run as efficiently as possible to save energy. The first thing to note is that eco pro works differently on BMW models with internal combustion engine only, models with electrical assistance, and pure electric models.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, is powered exclusively by an internal combustion engine. Therefore, switching to eco pro mode decreases the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal, making the car feel underpowered. This is to prevent your car from revving too high during acceleration, thus saving fuel. You can also set a speed limit in the settings.

This mode also enables the automatic engine start/stop function, which turns off the engine when you stop the car, like at a traffic light, and turns the engine back on when you press the accelerator pedal. Morover, the power of the air conditioning system is also reduced to decrease energy consumption.

Finally, if you’re using BMW’s navigation system, it will choose routes with the least bends and turns to reduce accelerations and decelerations, maintaining a constant rev.
