[ UPDATE 13/07/2022 17:00 ] Malaysians won’t be able to see butt naked Thor in Love and Thunder after all

===

If you were already planning to watch Thor: Love and Thunder on 7 July in Malaysian theaters, I sympathise with you. GSC and TGV made announcements saying that the new highly anticipated Thor film would be postponed to a 21 July release date instead—so you might need to wait just a little while longer to see Hemsworth’s naked hiney… if it does beat Malaysian censors.

“Please be informed that the release date for Marvel Studio’s Thor: Love and Thunder in Malaysia has been postponed to 21 July 2022 by Disney,” wrote GSC.

We noted that GSC says the movie delay is by Disney—not a government board. We just don’t know why something so anticipated like a Marvel superhero movie would be postponed for that long.

TGV also announced the postponement of the film.

Breaking News: @DisneyStudios Malaysia has confirmed that the release of #ThorLoveandThunder in Malaysia is now postponed to 21 July 2022.

For customers who have purchased advance sales tickets, you will be fully refunded. Kindly take note of the below: pic.twitter.com/4PS0YTYm1G

An unlikely reason why the movie could be postponed is due to actor Chris Hemsworth showing all of his glory in the film’s trailer. But I say that it’s unlikely because Malaysia could have just censored his butt out but still kept the movie’s original release date.

Those who have purchased advanced tickets at GSC and TGV will be fully refunded. For TGV, the advanced ticket refund will be processed within 2-14 working days. For GSC, you will be refunded within 14 days.

However, if you purchased your tickets via an e-kiosk or a counter, GSC and TGV advised customers to get the refund in person. You can read more of the terms from TGV and GSC.

Last month, we reported that Lightyear wouldn’t see the light of day in a Malaysian theatre. There has not been an official reason as to why Lightyear won’t be shown in Malaysian theatres. However, we can guess that it will likely have to do with “homosexual themes” in the film.
