Rapid KL My50 unlimited pass can be redeemed with BonusLink. Get up to 40% rebate if you’re using Visa cards

If you’re a Malaysian public transport user in the Klang Valley, the Rapid KL My50 pass provides great value with unlimited rides on Rapid KL MRT, LRT, Monorail, BRT, and buses for RM50/month. Typically, you’ll have to buy it with cash over the counter but there’s now an option for you to “buy” the My50 unlimited travel pass using your BonusLink points or credit/debit card.

Redeem My50 pass with 5,000 BonusLink points

BonusLink and Rapid KL have teamed up for a limited-time promo that’s running from 15th May to 14th August 2022 where you can redeem a Rapid KL My50 pass voucher through the BonusLink app (aka BLink). The app is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery. If you don’t remember your BonusLink card number, don’t worry, as the app can list out all cards that were registered to your IC number.

Unfortunately, the BonusLink My50 redemption offer is not as easy as buying one voucher and then showing the QR code at a Rapid KL counter. In order to renew or activate the My50 unlimited pass on your IC, you will have to go through a double voucher redemption process.

The first step is to buy the digital voucher from the BonusLink app. Tap on the My50 promo under “Hot Picks” on the home screen. If you have existing BonusLink points, you can redeem the My50 voucher worth RM50 for 5,000 points. It is also possible to combine points and credit/debit card by adjusting the slider on the payment page.

Tedious double redemption process

After completing the transaction for the voucher, you will need to fill out a My50 Pass Redemption form via Google Forms. It will require your IC number, your BonusLink Card number as well as the code of the voucher that you’ve purchased from the BonusLink app. You can get the voucher code by tapping on the “Show QR/Barcode” button on the voucher through MyWallet.

Once that’s done, you’ll have to wait for a PDF voucher via email which will be sent to you within two working days. This PDF voucher must be printed out and handed to a participating Rapid KL Customer Service counter which includes KL Sentral, KLCC, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek and Plaza Rakyat LRT station or Bukit Bintang and Maluri MRT station or Imbi and Hang Tuah Monorail station.

According to the T&C, Visa credit or debit cardholders are entitled to get a 20% points rebate (1,000 BonusLink points) which is capped at 500 pcs monthly. Meanwhile, if you’re using an Ambank BonusLink Visa Credit card, you are entitled to 40% Points rebate (2,000 BonusLink points) that’s also capped at 500 pcs monthly.

Given the manual process to obtain the actual redemption voucher that’s accepted by Rapid KL, it is advisable that you perform the double redemption early so that the printed PDF voucher is ready when you need to renew your My50 pass for your IC.
