Apple Fitness+ lets you learn actual choreography from K-Pop stars, BTS

Apple has announced that its Apple Fitness+ users will be able to learn K-Pop choreography—straight from BTS’ music videos—starting 29 April 2022. It’s in line with International Dance Day, as Apple Fitness+ also introduces new Artist Spotlight sessions and some other new Dance content.

“In the lead-up to International Dance Day, Fitness+ introduces a new Dance Collection, a limited-edition award, and a special Artist Spotlight featuring hit songs and iconic moves from BTS videos,” wrote Apple.

Fitness+’ Artist Spotlight series added new updates on 18 April with three new popular artists—BTS, ABBA, and Queen. If you aren’t familiar with Artist Spotlight, it’s a series dedicating an entire workout playlist to a single artist. There have been many other featured artists in the Spotlight series previously, including Alicia Keys, the Beatles, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, and Shakira.

But while there are plenty of western artists featured before on Artist Spotlight, this is the first time that a K-Pop act has been featured. And seeing how popular BTS is and how loyal the band’s fans are, it will only make Fitness+ even more popular.

Starting next week, workouts will feature choreography straight from BTS’ music videos. Some of the songs featured include hits like “Butter” “Dynamite,” “Boy With Luv,” “DNA,” “MIC Drop,” “Permission to Dance,” and “Life Goes On.” The group’s music will also be featured in different workout categories like HIIT over the next four weeks. This will also be the case for ABBA and Queen—the other two featured bands.

Additionally, Apple is also adding a new Dance Collection titled “Get into a Groove with Dance”, which starts with three 20-minute workouts from each of the Fitness+ Dance trainers. And on International Dance Day itself, users can earn a limited-edition award and animated stickers for Messages for completing any Dance workout of 20 minutes or more.

Fitness+ is available for RM19.90 a month, or RM119.90 a year. You can also get the most expensive Apple One plan which costs RM69.90 a month, and it also includes Apple Music, TV Plus, Apple Arcade, and 2TB of iCloud storage. If you’re wondering how Apple Fitness Plus works, I touched on it in my Apple TV 4K review.
