Super Plus: AirAsia offers unlimited free flights within ASEAN and free food delivery for RM639

Ahead of the reopening of Malaysia’s international borders, AirAsia has launched Super+, its new unlimited subscription service which offers unlimited flights with COVID-19 insurance coverage and free food delivery for one year. Similar to previous passes, the unlimited free flights only cover the base fare.

The AirAsia Super+ costs RM639/year which calculates to RM1.75/day. According to AirAsia, there are only 200,000 subscriptions available that can be purchased on their website or via the SUPER+ section in the AirAsia app. The promo ends on 2nd April 2022 or when all passes are snapped up, whichever comes first.

Capital A Group CEO Tony Fernandes said this is the first pass that combines flights and food delivery for a year in a single package. He described it as their equivalent to Amazon Prime and Netflix, and it supersedes all unlimited pass that was introduced earlier. The Super+ pass isn’t just launched in Malaysia but also in other ASEAN regions including Indonesia (IDR 2.3M), the Philippines (PHP 6,599), and Thailand (THB4,999).

AirAsia Super+ holders can redeem free domestic and ASEAN flights on AirAsia AK, FD, Z2, and QZ with a travel period from 11th April 2022 until 10th April 2023. As usual, there will be blackout dates so you would probably need to plan ahead for weekday trips. To redeem the flights, you will need to generate a promo code from your AirAsia account and apply that to the online booking engine on AirAsia. This is a similar process as the previous AirAsia unlimited passes and eligible flights will be marked with 100% off.

Also included is a bundled pre-departure Covid Coverage insurance protection plan which covers unavoidable flight cancellation for your redeemed flights. If you’re diagnosed as COVID-19 positive three to seven days before your scheduled flight, you are entitled to a lump sum maximum amount of RM150.

When you’re not traveling, Super+ subscribers can also enjoy free delivery for AirAsia Food with a minimum spend of RM15. To enjoy this perk, you’ll need to go to your account profile, go to Super+ subscription, and tap on Food to start your booking. Upon checkout, the delivery fee should be waived. AirAsia Food is currently available in Klang Valley, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Seremban, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Kota Bharu, Kuching and Miri.

During the press conference, Tony Fernandes said 90% of AirAsia refunds have been settled and the airline will issue a press release on the matter soon. When asked if AirAsia customers can use their existing credit shell to purchase the pass, Tony said it isn’t possible due to accounting reasons. However, the credit account can be used to offset taxes, fees and additional charges for AirAsia free flights.

On the status of previous AirAsia unlimited passes, AirAsia SuperApp CEO Amanda Woo said the validity for the ASEAN pass has been extended and passengers can proceed to book their domestic and international flights. AirAsia also has plans to launch similar Super+ passes for Hotels, rides and more.
