The Huawei Nova 9 SE has officially launched in Malaysia. This is their new mid-range smartphone and it’s also Huawei’s first smartphone to come with a 108MP main camera.

Huawei Nova 9 SE Malaysia price and availability

The Huawei Nova 9 SE is officially priced at RM1,099 in Malaysia. It is offered in a single variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, and it is available in 3 colours –  Crystal Blue, Pearl White, and Midnight Black.

The device is now available for pre-order from 11th to 18th March 2022. You can order it online now via Shopee and Lazada.

As part of their pre-order promo, Nova 9 SE buyers can get freebies worth up to RM560 which include the Huawei FreeLace earphones worth RM379 and HMS-exclusive rewards worth RM181. If you “book” the device earlier with a RM20 deposit, you’ll stand a chance to win vouchers up to RM1,888.

Huawei Nova 9 SE specs

Like the same suggests, the Nova 9 SE is essentially the more “affordable” version of the Huawei Nova 9 which was launched in November 2021 with a retail price tag of RM1,999. Despite costing RM900 less, the new Nova smartphone features a larger 6.78″ Full HD+ IPS display that pushes a 90Hz refresh rate and a 270Hz touch sampling rate.

Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, which is the same processor powering the Redmi Note 11 and Realme 9i. As mentioned earlier, the device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage

In terms of cameras, it gets a quad-camera setup at the rear which includes a 108MP f/1.0 main camera that uses a 1/1.52″ image sensor. There’s also an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP depth camera and a 2MP macro shooter. Despite having a high-resolution camera, it can’t record videos in 4K as it is limited to up to 1080p. For selfies, the Nova 9 SE gets a 16MP main camera with a 50-degree wide-angle lens.

In terms of connectivity, the Nova 9 SE is a 4G phone that also supports 802.11ac WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery which supports Huawei’s 66W SuperCharge via USB-C. Like most new Huawei smartphones, it doesn’t have access to Google Mobile Services including Google Play Store. If you need to install apps, you’ll have to rely on Huawei AppGallery and Petal Search.
