Poco, the independent brand under Xiaomi that’s popular for its affordable devices, is launching not one but two new smartphones next week which coincides with MWC 2022. One of them is the Poco X4 Pro 5G which was leaked recently and the other device is the Poco M4 Pro.
The Poco X4 Pro 5G and Poco M4 Pro global launch event are happening on 28th February 2022 at 8pm (Malaysian time). You can watch it live via Poco’s official Facebook and YouTube channels.
As leaked by Abhishek Yadav, the Poco X4 Pro looks like a rehashed Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. The device comes with a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and it is expected to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. The processor seems to be a downgrade from the previous Poco X3 Pro which came with a flagship-class Snapdragon 860 chip.
The X4 Pro also gets a triple-camera setup but it’s housed in a large and wide camera bump with a prominent “POCO” branding. It has a 108MP main camera accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, it gets a 16MP front camera housed in a punch-hole on the display.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Since Poco is often associated with better value, we reckon it should be priced lower than the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G which starts from RM1,199 for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model in Malaysia.
The second device, the Poco M4 Pro, appears to be a new entry-level smartphone that lacks 5G connectivity. In November last year, Poco had launched the Poco M4 Pro 5G which is priced from RM849 for the 64GB storage model. We don’t know what the specs are and what it looks like, but we reckon that this should be a more budget-friendly device priced under RM800.
To recap, the Poco M4 Pro 5G features a 6.6″ Full HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 810 chip. Despite the busy-looking camera bump, the device actually has a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. Also included is a 16MP selfie camera. The M4 Pro 5G gets a 5,000mAh battery and it supports 33W fast charging.
Stay tuned for all the details on 28th February.
