This is a special episode because it’s the last episode of ICYMI. After more than 600 episodes, we decided to start a new chapter of content for the channel. In today’s episode, we’ll answer why can’t Samsung and iPhone connect to 5G in Malaysia? We’ll also talk about AirAsia’s new ride sharing platform with air taxis.

COVID-19 positive with symptoms?

The Ministry of Health has updated its isolation period for COVID-19 cases and quarantine period for close contacts according to vaccination status. Effective 17th February 2022, fully vaccinated and boosted individuals are only required to be quarantined for 7 days regardless of whether they are asymptomatic or symptomatic. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are required to be quarantined for 10 days. Learn more here.

The New York Times broke their promise and changed Wordle

After The New York Times (NYT) bought Wordle for a price “in the low-seven figures”, a lot of fans were concerned that the game would be changed and no longer be free. In a statement, NYT said the game would “initially be free to play for new and existing players, and no changes will be made to its gameplay”. Recently, NYT broke their promise and changed the gameplay of Wordle. Read more here.

AirAsia to form new ride sharing platform with air taxis

AirAsia Aviation Group Limited has announced that they’ve signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Avolon, an aircraft leasing company, to lease at least 100 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) from them. Additionally, AirAsia and Avolon will work together to commercialise eVTOL aircraft and develop an urban air mobility (UAM) platform in the Southeast Asia region. The goal it seems is to create a new ride sharing platform for Southeast Asia, but in the air. Learn more about it here.

Why Samsung and iPhone devices can’t connect to 5G in Malaysia?

Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB)’s 5G network went live on 15th December 2021 and they are offering free access to telcos until the end of March 2022. Yes is the first and currently the only telco to offer 5G services in Malaysia. At the moment, only a handful of devices are able to access the 5G network and unfortunately, this excludes Samsung Galaxy and iPhone models. Read more about it here.
