Planning to return to hometown this Chinese New Year? If you haven’t booked your flight tickets yet, Malaysia Airlines is now offering 20% off on all seats for all domestic flights within Malaysia.
The 20% off promo is available from today until 23rd January 2022 for the travel period from now until 30th June 2022. In addition, Malaysia Airlines is also offering 25% off for seat selection and extra baggage. For Enrich customers, you can earn an additional 22% Bonus Enrich points when you book during the sales period.
If you’re buying your last-minute CNY flight tickets, a return trip from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu (30th January to 3rd February) on Economy Basic fare starts from RM360. Meanwhile, a similar return flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu costs RM516.85 and Kuala Lumpur to Kuching costs RM626.02. The 20% discounted fares are shown automatically when you search for your flights.
Take note that the cheapest “Economy Lite” fare on Malaysia Airlines does not come with free check-in luggage. If you need to bring luggage, which you certainly would for Chinese New Year “balik kampung”, you should get the “Economic Basic” fare which costs about RM16 extra and it comes with a 20kg allowance. For a better experience, you can go for Economy Flex which comes with 35kg allowance, unlimited flight change (subject to fare difference), priority check-in, priority boarding, and priority baggage.
On top of that, Malaysia Airlines is also offering discounts up to 30% off on all domestic travel packages on MHholidays. According to the airline, you can get a 3-day/2-night stay starting from as low as RM199. Among its participating hotels include Citrus Hotel in Johor Bahru, Grand Crystal in Kedah, Raia Hotel in Kota Kinabalu, The Lime Tree Hotel in Kuching, Shahzan Hotel in Kuantan and Melia Kuala Lumpur. In addition, MHholiday customers can enjoy a higher 40kg baggage allowance.
The national flag carrier has also recently resumed direct flights from Penang to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. The route will soon be served by Firefly from April 2022 onwards as it resumes its jet operations.
