Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is offering a one-off 100% bill rebate for December’s 2021 electricity bill to domestic customers affected by the floods. The bill rebate is expected to benefit a total of 72,000 domestic customers and it does not include commercial users.
In addition, TNB is also taking the initiative to provide free wiring inspection for B40 homes that were badly hit by the recent floods. This is to provide relief and to speed up the reconnection of the power supply safely.
TNB has disconnected the power supply to several flood-hit areas for safety reasons and it also affected telecommunications services. Electricity is being restored in stages in Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, and Kuala Lumpur. While the water levels have subsided, substations may not be considered safe to be reactivated.
As of 10am this morning, they have restored electricity supply to 176 affected areas of Selangor, 503 areas in Pahang, 25 areas in Negeri Sembilan and 118 areas in Kuala Lumpur. There are still over 30 areas in Selangor, 17 areas in Pahang, 2 areas in Seremban and 2 areas in Kuala Lumpur without electricity.
They have also reminded all users not to switch on water-damaged electrical appliances until it is inspected, repaired, and tested properly by a trained person. You can follow the latest TNB updates on their Facebook and Twitter channels.
