Ezviz updates its 360-degree Smart CCTV camera with a 4MP 2K sensor

Ezviz, the Chinese home security brand, just came out with the C6N 4MP and C6N 3MP: upgraded versions of their 2MP C6N home security camera. The device can now record in 2K resolution, compared to the 1080p resolution from the original C6N camera.

We’ve actually covered some Ezviz products before, including the C3X which uses two lenses for colour night vision, and the battery-powered BC1 which can last up to a year on a single charge. As for indoor cameras, we’ve talked about the budget C1C camera and even gave away units of the C6N last holiday season.

Specs and features

The biggest change to the C6N is the image quality. For the 4MP version, they bumped up the recording capabilities from 1920×1080 pixels at 15fps to 2560×1440 pixels at 20fps. The new 3MP version on the other hand is almost identical to the 4MP, but only offering 2304×1296 pixels at 20fps.

Ezviz also promises up to 4x digital zoom for the newer models. Everything else about the camera has stayed pretty much the same. When compared to Xiaomi’s Mi 360 Home Security Camera 2K Pro which offers the same resolution, the new C6N has the upper hand with its 4MP compared to the Mi 360’s 3MP sensor.

It keeps the same spherical design and offers a full 360-degree field of view using a motorised pan and tilt so the camera has no blind spots. When the lights are off, the C6N 4MP and 3MP use infrared lights to see up to 10 meters away in the dark.

Just like any other home security camera, you can view the live footage from anywhere, but this device also supports two-way communication. The camera doesn’t have a screen, but you can use the app to talk back and forth. They also included ‘smart tracking’ which can detect a moving object and automatically track its motion while alerting you with an image in real-time.

For storage, the C6N 4MP and C6N 3MP use a microSD card with up to 256GB of storage. If that’s not enough for you, they also offer end-to-end encrypted cloud storage. The device is powered via Micro USB and uses WiFi 2.4GHz to connect to the internet. Compared to the C6N’s H.264 compression algorithm, the C6N 4MP and 3MP use an H.265 algorithm which reportedly provides better video quality with half the bandwidth and storage. In the box, you get the camera, the base, a screw kit, a 3m power cable, a drill template, and a power adapter.

Pricing and availability

You can get either a 3MP or a 4MP version of the C6N on Ezviz’s official Lazada and Shopee stores. It also comes with a 2-year warranty. Here are the prices on Lazada for the available storage options. They seem to be a little more expensive on Shopee.

C6N 3MP (No SD) – RM169
C6N 3MP (32GB) – RM189
C6N 3MP (64GB) – RM199
C6N 3MP (128GB) – RM222
C6N 3MP (256GB) – RM289

C6N 4MP (No SD) – RM179
C6N 4MP (32GB) – RM199
C6N 4MP (64GB) – RM209
C6N 4MP (128GB) – RM233
C6N 4MP (256GB) – RM303

The upgrade from 3MP to 4MP only costs an extra RM10, but you do get slightly better resolution with the 4MP model. If you want a budget option, the base 3MP model still offers 2K resolution video, but I think the extra RM10 is worth it for the full 1440p quality.
