Ezviz’s new battery-powered wireless CCTV can last up to a year on a single charge

Home security camera brand Ezviz has introduced a new wireless BC1 outdoor CCTV that can run completely on battery power for up to 365 days on a single charge. This makes it easy to install a smart CCTV outside your home without worrying about cables.

The Ezviz BC1 comes in 3 bundle options and below is the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • 1x BC 1 camera + 1x Base Station – RM549
  • 2x BC 1 cameras + 1x Base Station – RM879

Hardware specs

The Ezviz BC1 comes with a 2MP 1/2.8″ CMOS Sensor that can record Full HD 1080p video up to 30fps. The camera uses H.265 video compression technology which offers better quality while taking up less space compared to H.264 compression standards. It connects via 2.4GHz WiFi and you can pop-in a microSD card up to 256GB on the base station unit. A single base station can connect up to three BC1 cameras.

The camera also comes with a built-in loudspeaker and an omnidirectional microphone that supports two-way voice conversations. Since this is an outdoor camera, it has IP66-rated dust and water resistance. The camera comes with a magnetic base, which makes it easy to mount on outdoor metal surfaces.

Some of the smart features include human motion detection and you can even set automatic voice alerts. Users are able to customise detection areas and get alerts when the camera detects potential intruders. For better visibility in the dark, it comes with two built-in spotlights and there’s also the option to enable vivid night vision.

The biggest highlight of course is its massive 12,900mAh battery which is rated to last up to 365 days from a full charge. According to Ezviz, the rated battery life is based on a simulation of an average use of 5 minutes per day where the camera is activated for 200 seconds per day, with up to 100 seconds of live viewing. The actual battery life is subject to several factors which include the method of use, device settings, internet stability and activity detection by the camera.
