There is a wide selection of robot vacuum cleaners in the market, and you might feel overwhelmed if you’re trying to choose the right one. Not all robot vacuum cleaners would be able to reach tough corners, nooks, and crannies—and they would often leave you having to do the manual work of cleaning the places the robot might have missed.
So, if you’re looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that’s able to clean tricky corners, has smart mapping, and is even able to clean up after itself—the iRobot™ Roomba® s9+ should be the one you should get. Additionally, iRobot™’s newest Roomba® includes more handy features that help make it the one to buy for your home.
Rather than being a fully rounded robot vacuum cleaner, the Roomba® s9+ has something called PerfectEdge™ Technology—which includes having the Maximised-Edge Design that can help clean the edges of your home a lot better. And its advanced sensors give the Roomba® the ability to get close to walls.
PerfectEdge™ Technology also includes having a specially angled corner brush to reach deeper into the corners. And its advanced sensors give the Roomba® the ability to get close to walls.
Apart from its angled corner brush, the s9+ has dual multi-surface brushes which can help pick up things like pet hair without getting tangled—which can be a problem with some other robot vacuum cleaners. These rubber multi-surface brushes are also 30% wider, compared to the brushes for iRobot™’s previous Roomba® 600 Series.
The Roomba® s9+ is a “Low Designed Robot”, which means that it is designed to fit under furniture. It’s 3.5 inches high—which is on the low end of usual robot vacuum cleaner heights, and 12.25 inches wide—which is smaller than the common measurements.
Its new shape and added design elements make it easier for it to clean hard-to-reach areas like under the sofa and bed—making it efficient in terms of coverage.
The Roomba® s9+ boasts a Three-Stage Cleaning System. It utilises its dual multi-surface rubber brushes with 40 times the suction power of its robot vacuum cleaners from the Roomba® 600 series to clean out dirt, debris, and pet hair from hard-to-reach areas.
The increased suction power means that the Roomba® s9+ would be able to clean even deeper into carpets, as well as hard floors.
According to iRobot™, the Roomba® s9+ can clean your home for up to 120 minutes per cycle. After its job, it would require 2 hours of recharging—which is more than enough for a home’s scheduled everyday routine. And if it does run low on battery, it can even charge itself for a couple of hours before picking itself up where it left off to make sure the job is done.
A pretty impressive feature that the Roomba® s9+ has is its ability to clean up after itself. Its Clean Base™ Automatic Dirt Disposal automatically empties the bin from the Roomba® s9+ into the AllergenLock™ Bag, which is placed inside of the robot’s charging port. AllergenLock™ Bag that uses 4 layers of allergen blocking material to trap 99% of pollen, mold and dust mite allergens.
With the feature, you won’t need to empty the Bag out for up to 60 days. It saves you from taking the time out of your day to remove the dirt from its port every day. But when it is time to empty the dust bin out, you can just easily rinse the dirt away.
The Roomba®’s iAdapt™ 3.0 navigation Imprint™ Link feature with Smart Mapping lets the robot navigate around your home with a customised cleaning layout of your home. Through the iRobot™ Home app (iOS, Android), you would be able to have total control of which rooms are cleaned and when—and you’re also able to schedule cleans with a voice navigation system. It also has a Virtual Wall Barrier to manage where you don’t want the robot vacuum to clean—like a pet food section.
To allow it to create a detailed map of its surroundings, the Roomba®’s vSLAM technology uses an optical sensor to capture over 230,400 data points per second. The feature lets the Roomba® know where it is, where it has been, and where to clean next.
To complement the Roomba® s9+, the Braava jet® m6 can be the answer if you’re not as keen about mopping either. It can be connected through the iRobot™ Home app for scheduled and customised cleanings and it also has the same Imprint Link technology as the robot vacuum cleaner—as it, too, can create detailed maps of your home.
For its features, the Braava jet® m6 has a Precision Jet Spray that can tackle stains on the floor, an advanced pad system to mop up the dirt or dry sweep the floor, and even a camera for increased coverage and navigation.
The Braava jet® m6 also only requires three simple steps to use. Attach a wet mopping or dry sweeping cleaning pad, add water, and press “Clean”. When it’s done, you can just press the eject button to dispose of the cleaning pad.
With the many user-friendly features and the use of smart technology, the Roomba® s9+ would be a well-rounded fit if you’re looking for the right robot vacuum cleaner. And paired with the Braava jet® m6, you won’t need to spend that extra time focusing on home floor maintenance and more time enjoying how squeaky clean your floors would be.
