With no OnePlus 9T this year, the next flagship smartphone from OnePlus is set to be the OnePlus 10 Pro which many expect to drop some time in early 2022 in China. And while we can expect the usual bunch of upgrades like the latest and greatest mobile processor, from the looks of it there might not be much else in store.
According to serial leakster OnLeaks, key specifications and renders of the upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro have appeared online. It features a triple camera setup on the rear, with the camera bump now extended to the edge of the device and encompasses the alert slider. The main camera is reportedly a 48MP main shooter, a 50MP ultrawide angle lens and another 8MP telephoto lens, while the front of the device is a 32MP selfie shooter. As for the display, it’s apparently going to be a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and curved edges too. This also means the chassis itself won’t be following the trend of iPhone-style flat sides.
Under the hood meanwhile will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the supposed ‘new’ name of the Snapdragon 898 following Qualcomm’s decision to rebrand their line of mobile processors. As is normal, we’ll see a number of configurations for memory and storage, with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The battery is now at 5,000mAh capacity, though there’s no word on its fast charging speeds just yet.
Overall though, it has to be said that there’s actually not much extra in store compared to this year’s OnePlus 9 Pro. It’s the same sized display with the same resolution and same refresh rate, though the addition of curved edges on the side might be a nice touch. And as for the cameras, it’ll actually come with one camera less, as OnePlus will drop the monochrome lens for the OnePlus 10 Pro. It also doesn’t seem to have changed much from the OnePlus 9 Pro, which also had a 48MP main shooter, a 50MP ultrawide camera and an 8MP telephoto lens. In fact, the only major upgrade seems to be the larger battery, compared to the 4,500mAh battery on the OnePlus 9 Pro.
It should be noted though that these are so far just leaks and rumours, and as such should be taken with a pinch of salt. If anything, these specs could also just be early renditions of the OnePlus 10 Pro and could change still before it officially launches next year. However, if it does remain the same, it could be one of OnePlus’ more uninspiring devices which would be quite a shame for one of the darlings of the Android scene.
