New MacBook Pro 14 and 16 have arrived in Malaysia, fully specced out model costs over RM25,000

Apple had shown off their latest range of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, complete with two new additions to the Apple Silicon family. In just a month since then, Malaysians will now be able to purchase them and have them arrive in time for Christmas—unless you absolutely need 64GB of RAM that is.

MacBook Pro 14 pricing and availability

Starting off with the MacBook Pro 14, the cheapest possible configuration comes with the M1 Pro processor with 8 CPU cores and 14 GPU cores mated to 16GB of unified memory and 512GB of SSD storage. Together with the basic 67W USB-C power adapter and no extra pre-installed software in the likes of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, this model will set you back RM8,799 and if you were to get it today it’ll ship in 2-3 weeks with free shipping.

There are a number of different configurations from here on out though, and if you do opt for any of the 10 CPU core models and higher, you’ll automatically get the 96W USB-C power adapter instead. Here’s the pricing for all of the MacBook Pro 14 starting configurations

  • MacBook Pro 14, M1 Pro 8-core CPU 14-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM8,799
  • MacBook Pro 14, M1 Pro 10-core CPU 14-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM9,599
  • MacBook Pro 14, M1 Pro 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM9,999
  • MacBook Pro 14, M1 Max 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM12,399
  • MacBook Pro 14, M1 Max 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM13,199

Each of these can be upgraded further of course. The M1 Pro models can be configured with 32GB of memory instead which will cost you an extra RM1,600, while the M1 Max models start at 32GB of memory and doubling that to 64GB will also cost you an extra RM1,600. You can also opt to increase the storage of your new MacBook Pro 14, with the first jump to 1TB costing RM800, which each extra terabyte costing RM1,600, up to a maximum of 8TB. If you need it, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro can be added too for an extra RM1,299.90 and RM799.90 respectively.

Incidentally, while the base model MacBook Pro 14 will only ship in 2-3 weeks, all the other models will ship in just 1-2 weeks. The only exception to this though will be if you choose to have 64GB of memory on the M1 Max models, in which case the shipping time jumps to 6-8 weeks, which means that at the absolute earliest you’ll still only get it on New Year’s Eve if it was ordered at time of writing.

MacBook Pro 16 pricing and availability

If the 14-inch screen is not big enough for you, there’s the 16-inch MacBook Pro too. There’s just three CPU options this time, with the best M1 Pro processor as the starting option.

  • MacBook Pro 16, M1 Pro 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM10,799
  • MacBook Pro 16, M1 Max 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM13,199
  • MacBook Pro 16, M1 Max 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM13,999

Again, there’s a number of upgrades you can add to your new MacBook Pro 16. For starters, if you wanted the M1 Pro silicon with 32GB of RAM, that’ll add RM1,600 to your final bill. Meanwhile, the M1 Max laptops can get 64GB of RAM for RM1,600 too. And just like the MacBook Pro 14, you can get a 1TB SSD for an extra RM800, which can go all the way to 8TB for RM9,600.

If you wanted to get the top spec MacBook Pro 16 with the M1 Max processor, 64GB of memory and 8TB of SSD storage, it will cost you a whopping RM25,199. Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro can be added on here as well if you need it. Apple Malaysia will need between 2-3 weeks to ship out the base model MacBook Pro 16, but any other configuration will be shipped in 1-2 weeks, barring models with 64GB of memory that’ll again need 6-8 weeks.
