[ UPDATE 24/11/2021 14:00] The Vivo Y76 5G has arrived in Malaysia with a retail price tag of RM1,299. This is probably the most expensive entry-level 5G phone in Malaysia.

The Vivo Y76 5G is coming to Malaysia next week and it is expected to be their most affordable 5G smartphone. Ahead of the launch, the Chinese smartphone maker has dropped a couple of teasers of the device including the exterior design. From the looks of it, this could be the global version of the Vivo Y76s 5G that was released in China.

According to Vivo Malaysia, the Y76 5G features an ultra-slim design, 44W flash charge and a large battery. The 5G device will come in two colours – Cosmic Aurora and Midnight Space. Vivo also promises to offer seamless gaming experiences through its partnership with Mobile Legends.

The rest of the specs are not revealed yet but we reckon this could compete with the Poco M4 Pro 5G assuming the new Y76 is a rebadge of the Vivo Y76s 5G. The Y76s 5G features a 6.58″ Full HD+ (2408×1080 pixels) LCD 60Hz display and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chip. The device has 8GB of RAM which is “expandable” up to 4GB extra with virtual RAM. The device comes with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage which is expandable via microSD card.

In the camera department, the rear gets a dual-camera setup featuring a 50MP main camera and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies, the tiny notch houses an 8MP front camera. Keeping the lights on is a 4,100mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging via USB-C. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it runs on Android 11. In China, the 128GB version is priced at CNY 1,799 (about RM1,179) while the 256GB option is going for CNY 1,999 (about RM1,310).

According to Vivo Malaysia, the Vivo Y76 5G will be launched through an online stream event on Tuesday, 23rd November at 8.30pm. You can watch it live on their official Facebook page, as well as their official store on Lazada and Shopee.
