Huawei MateBook 14s Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The Huawei MateBook 14s has officially arrived in Malaysia. This is Huawei’s latest laptop offering that features Intel’s 11th gen Core H-series processors, 90Hz display, and supports 90W fast charging.

The Huawei MateBook 14s is now available for pre-order and it comes in two spec options. Below is the official pricing for the MateBook 14s in Malaysia:

  • Intel Core i5-11300H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM4,999
  • Intel Core i7-11370H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD – RM6,699

The laptops are available in Spruce Green and Space Grey. However, the Spruce Green option is only offered for the lower-spec Core i5 model.

As a pre-order promo, Huawei is bundling RM1,366 worth of freebies with the laptop. This includes a Huawei CD60 Backpack (RRP: RM199), a Huawei CD20 Bluetooth Mouse (RRP: RM199), Microsoft 365 Personal 1-year subscription (RRP: RM269), and Huawei FreeBuds Pro (RRP: RM699).

Huawei MateBook 14s Specs

The Huawei MateBook 14s features a 14.2″ 2.5K (2520×1680) 3:2 touch screen display that pushes a 60Hz or 90Hz refresh rate. It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a maximum brightness of 400 nits. Overall, it weighs 1.43kg and has a thickness of 16.7mm.

Under the hood, it runs on the 11th gen Intel Core i5-11300H or i7-11370H processor with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. For the i5 model, you’ll get 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB SSD while the i7 version comes with 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and 1TB SSD.

Unlike the previous MateBook models, the webcam is now placed on the bezel above the screen which pushes 720p HD resolution. You still get a power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The laptop also features a quad-speaker setup and an array of 4 microphones for better pickup during conference calls.

In the connectivity department, it has two USB-C ports, a USB-A (USB3.2 Gen1), an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop supports 802.11ax 160Hz WiFI 6 with 2×2 MIMO as well as Bluetooth 5.1. It is also worth pointing out that the higher-spec i7 model supports Thunderbolt 4 on the 2nd USB-C port.

The Huawei MateBook 14s is equipped with a 60Wh battery and it comes bundled with a 90W USB-C power adapter. Out of the box, it comes with Microsoft Windows 10 Home and it will be upgradable to Windows 11 in the future. According to Huawei, the OS upgrade plan is currently being finalised and it is scheduled to start in late 2021.

MateBook 14 2021

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, there’s the Huawei MateBook 14 2021 which runs on an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7. The MateBook 14 is priced at RM4,599 and is available for purchase on the Huawei Online Store, Lazada and Shopee.

The rest of the specs and hardware looks similar to the previous MateBook 14 2021 but this option comes with less RAM at 8GB and it still offers 512GB SSD. The MateBook 14 features a 14″ 2K (2160×1440) display, a pop-up webcam, dual-speaker setup, and a 56Wh battery that supports 65W fast charging via USB-C. As a pre-order offer, Huawei is throwing in Microsoft 365 Personal, Huawei CD60 Backpack, a Huawei WiFi AX3 Dual-Core WiFi 6 router and a Huawei CD20 Bluetooth Mouse.
