Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is available on Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia starting today

The highly anticipated stand-alone Black Widow film premiered both on Disney+ and in theatres on 9 July 2021, but it left us Malaysians in the dark. But it is now officially available for Disney+ Hotstar subscribers—which saves us a trip to the cinema if we’re still feeling a little cautious about it.

The action-packed feature film tells the story of Marvel superhero Natasha Romanoff’s past and her path to becoming the spy and assassin. Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) reunites with people she once considered family in order to destroy the organization that tore their lives apart.

With cinemas slowly opening up in Malaysia, you are able to watch Black Widow at select theatres. However, if you’re still not comfortable coming back to move theatres as we ease COVID-19 restrictions, having a Disney+ Hotstar account will come as an advantage if you want to watch the movie.

Disney+ Hotstar is available in Malaysia for RM54.90 (for a 3-month subscription), RM11.90 (for a monthly subscription) or RM62.90 (for an annual subscription). But if you’re an Astro Movies Pack customer, Disney+ Hotstar is already included in your plan since they have increased the price by RM5 extra for all Movies Pack customers.

In late July, Scarlett Johansson sued Disney over the simultaneous release of Black Widow in theaters and on Disney+. In the suit, Johansson’s salary was in part based on the box office performance of the film—which means that the streaming offer could cut into her paycheck. And just a few days ago, Johansson also said that she has “resolved her differences” with Disney, but details of the deal between them have not been disclosed.
