Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations extended in the Klang Valley at these locations

The COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has announced an extension to the walk-in vaccination programme in the Klang Valley. The 3-week walk-in COVID-19 vaccination programme which started on 2nd August was originally scheduled to end today.

According to the statement, the decision to extend was made to ensure continuity of the vaccination effort in the Klang Valley after considering the planning of vaccination centre operations as well as the data obtained since the start of Operation Surge Capacity. Although the number of daily walk-ins for Malaysians have been declining, walk-ins are still continued to be offered only to Malaysians. Walk-ins will be stopped for non-Malaysians starting tomorrow but they can still get vaccinated through the existing appointment system.

Walk-in vaccinations for Malaysians

For Malaysian citizens, walk-ins are available at the following vaccination centres (PPV) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor:

23rd August 2021 onward

• Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil – A, B
• Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam – HCO B
• Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC)
• Hotel Wyndham Acmar Klang
• Dewan Sivik MBPJ, Petaling Jaya
• Stadium Tertutup, Kuala Selangor
• Dewan Seri Bernam, Sabah Bernam
• Dewan Kompleks Sukan Majlis Perbandaran, Kuala Langat

25th August 2021 onward

• Le Pavilion Gamuda Garden, Gombak
• Bukit Beruntung Golf Resort

26th August 2021 onward

The walk-in vaccinations are offered only for people residing in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Proof of residency is required and you can present your utility bill, employment card, university student card or any documentation to prove that you’re staying in the Klang Valley.

For individuals that have missed their 2nd dose appointment, they may walk into any of the listed PPVs nearest to their home. If the PPV doesn’t carry the same vaccine type that you’ve received during your first dose, you will be referred to another vaccination centre.

Vaccinations for non-citizens

The current Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil PPV for non-Malaysians will no longer accept walk-ins starting tomorrow, 23rd August 2021. The CITF added that this was to ensure a more comfortable and safer environment following the tremendous response. It was reported that some had to queue several hours earlier just to secure a lot to get vaccinated.

For non-Malaysians that have not been vaccinated yet, you can register for the national immunisation programme through MySejahtera (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Huawei App Gallery), on their website or call in at 1-800-888-828. COVID-19 vaccinations under the programme are offered for free to both Malaysians and non-Malaysians.

Over 80% of adults in the Klang Valley fully vaccinated

As of 21st August, Malaysia has administered over 30.8 million vaccine doses. On the national level, 55.5% of the total population have received at least one dose and 38.9% have completed their vaccination with two doses.

In the Klang Valley, 107.7% of adults have gotten at least one dose and 81.3% of adults have gotten two doses. In case you’re wondering, the population figure exceeds 100% due to the difference in population statistics and it also includes undocumented residents and non-residents.

For individuals that have received a two-dose vaccines such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac, you’re only counted as fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose. Meanwhile, for individuals that received single-shot vaccines such as CanSino or Johnson & Johnson, you’re counted as fully vaccinated 28 days after receiving the injection.
