Poco X3 GT Malaysia: Everything you need to know

Xiaomi Malaysia has officially announced the Poco X3 GT. This is Poco’s latest mid-range contender under the X3 series and it offers a large screen, a huge battery and 5G connectivity.

Pricing and availability

The Poco X3 GT comes in two variants and below is the official retail price in Malaysia:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM1,299
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM1,599

You can have it in 3 colours – Stargaze Black, Cloud White and Wave Blue. The device will go on sale starting from 3rd August 2021 on Lazada Malaysia. Overall, it costs RM300 more than the Poco X3 Pro.

As an early bird promo from 3rd to 4th August, you can get up to RM200 discount. The Poco X3 GT 128GB is going for as low as RM1,199 while the 256GB model can be yours for RM1,399. In addition, Xiaomi is also including a free gift worth RM169 with every purchase of the 256GB model on 3rd August while stocks last.

Hardware Specs

The Poco X3 GT is quite a step up from the Poco X3 Pro that was announced a few months ago. Upfront, it gets a 6.6″ Full HD+ IPS display that pushes 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Despite being a mid-range phone, it uses Corning’s top-of-the-line Gorilla Glass Victus which is designed to better withstand drops and scratches. This particular Gorilla Glass is typically found on the latest flagship smartphones like the ROG Phone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S21.

Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor on the X3 Pro, the X3 GT is running on a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1100 processor that’s mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. You have a choice of either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage which isn’t expandable.

In terms of camera, the Poco X3 GT gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 64MP f/1.79 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies, the centre-aligned punch-hole on the display houses a 16MP front camera.

The device also features a pair of stereo speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos but do note that the GT lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device also gets an IR blaster and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the Poco X3 Pro but this time it supports 67W fast charging via USB-C. The 67W charging brick is included in the box as standard. Besides supporting 5G when it is ready, the GT also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 skin on top.
