COVID-19: Record-high 17,045 cases today, Malaysia’s total positive cases exceed 1 million

Malaysia has recorded 17,045 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,013,438. This is the highest number of new cases recorded in a day and Malaysia’s total positive cases since the start of the pandemic have exceeded the 1 million mark.

There are 92 deaths today bringing the death toll to 7,994. The Ministry of Health has reported 9,683 recoveries and a total of 844,541 cases have been recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.33% while the mortality rate is 0.79%.

At the moment, there are 160,903 active cases. This includes 970 in ICU and 501 requiring ventilator. Out of 17,045 cases reported today, 6 are imported while 17,039 are transmitted locally.

The Klang Valley alone records over 10,000 new cases today. Throughout Malaysia, Selangor records the most with 8,500 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,045 cases, Kedah with 1,216 cases and Johor with 950 cases.
