OnePlus has revealed that the OnePlus Buds Pro will soon be available and has disclosed a few attributes of its forthcoming flagship wireless buds. Despite merging with Oppo, the Buds Pro were not created as a result of said integration.
The earbuds are a higher-end successor to last year’s OnePlus Buds, and judging by its “Pro” moniker, it is designed to go head to head with competitors such as Apple‘s AirPods Pro, and Samsung‘s Galaxy Buds Pro.
The Buds Pro will feature a triple-mic system, plus adaptive noise cancelling (ANC) abilities which can be self-adjusted from 15 dB to 40 dB.
To switch on ANC, users simply have to hold down on the stem of the left or right earbud. Alternatively, they can also access the HeyMelody iOS or Android app. If you own a OnePlus device with a compatible handset, you may conveniently switch ANC on or off through a built-in app.
Physically, the product sports a combination of matte and glossy finishing made with non-conductive vacuum metallisation technology. The buds get a matte finish while the stems get a shiny metallic coating.
The design and finishing also serve a practical purpose, as the metallic finish on the control section of the stem allows for a smoother user experience, while the matte texture on the rest of the surface of the Buds Pro reduces its slipperiness, simultaneously increasing its sweat and dust resistance.
In terms of battery life, the OnePlus Buds Pro in its charging cases will be able to power through up to 38 hours of usage sans ANC, and will last up to 28 hours with it enabled.
The battery also supports Warp Charge which was first available on its smartphones, where users can enjoy 10 hours of battery life after a 10-minute 10W wired recharge of its charging case.
Listeners are free to use any USB-C cable across any adapter, a feature currently not available on its smartphones. The Buds Pro’s charging case also supports wireless charging on any Qi-wireless charger, though it can only be charged at 2W.
OnePlus says that it will share more information about the new earbuds during the upcoming launch event on July 22, where it is set to debut alongside the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.
The upcoming Nord 2 also supposedly has a dual-cell battery of 4,500 mAh that supports a 65W Warp Charge.
A Twitter leaker has put up render images, as well alleged features of the Nord 2. While it was confirmed that the Nord 2 will run on a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset, the smartphone will supposedly yield a IMX766 50MP main camera and a 32MP selfie camera.
