COVID-19: New cases jump to 7,654 today, 4,843 reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 7,654 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 792,693. This is the highest recorded since 5th June.

According to the breakdown, there’s a sharp rise in cases in the Klang Valley. Selangor recorded 3,260 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,550 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 698 cases and Kedah with 337 cases.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,797 recoveries today and a total of 714,815 patients have recovered and been discharged. However, there are 103 new deaths reported bringing the death toll to 5,677. The recovery rate is currently 90.17% while the mortality rate is 0.72%.

There are currently 72,201 active cases that are receiving treatment. 943 cases are in ICU with 450 requiring respiratory support. There are 21 new clusters identified today and 11 are workplace related. Below is the breakdown by states:
