COVID-19: Over 80 deaths recorded while new cases dip to 5,271 today, Selangor records 1,374 cases

Malaysia has recorded 5,271 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 622,086. This is the lowest new cases recorded in a day since 19th May 2021. There are 82 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 3,460.

The Ministry of Health has reported 7,548 new recoveries which are more than the number of new cases reported today. A total of 534,357 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 85.90% while the mortality rate is now at 0.56%.

There are currently 84,269 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 902 are in ICU while 447 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,271 new cases today, 14 are imported while 5,257 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,374 cases, followed by Sarawak with 703 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 571 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 455 cases.
