Malaysia has recorded 8,209 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 595,374. There are 103 deaths today bringing the death toll to 3,096. Today is the second consecutive day Malaysia recorded over 100 COVID-19 deaths in a day.
The Ministry of Health has reported 7,049 new recoveries which is a new record high and a total of 508,947 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently at 85.48% while the mortality rate is at 0.52%.
There are now 83,331 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 880 are in ICU while 446 require ventilators.
Out of the 8,209 new cases reported today, 64 are imported while 8,145 are transmitted locally. According to the breakdown, Selangor recorded the most with 3,125 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 801 cases, Johor with 752 cases and Sarawak with 594 cases.
